Liberal Thoughts

I consider myself neither a Liberal nor a Conservative, though I share views with both parties. Personally, I feel that anyone who labels him/herself a "Liberal," a "Conservate," a "Democrat," or whatever, has not done much thinking.

It looks like the Conservatives will win another minority, which probably says more about the disaster that used to be known as the Liberals than anything else.

I'm not a fan of Dion or the Liberals, but if they want to win, they should follow this one piece of advice: make gas prices an issue! I'm amazed that no leader, except maybe Jack Layton, has even mentioned the insane and exponential rise in gas prices, not to mention the obvious gouging that is going on. The Liberals will win many votes if Dion only says "if you vote for us, you will pay less at the pumps." It's that simple.

In case you've been living under a rock for the past decade, Canada is an oil rich country and exports 98 percent of it to the US. I can see how it is an American problem, but there is no reason at all why Canadians should suffer.

if only our country was grown up enough not to cave to the US and sell its gas within the country... we would not have to deal with ever rising gas prices..
that being said i really hope the conservatives win minority again just to shove it to the retard kid in power who said he would never allow a prime minister to call an impromptu election in order to gain more power...
the october election is not about voting for someone as much as it is voting against

actually, you must be living under a rock since you clearly do not know the difference between oil and gas.

Oil comes from the ground and must be REFINED in order to become gas. Granted, Canada has oil but can we refine it. I thought so!

You think that you know all about oil and gas but you dont

If I thought I knew everything about oil and gas (which I never claimed anyway), I would be making billions of dollars instead of sitting here arguing with you.

Yes, I'm well aware that oil must be refined to make it usable. All I'm saying is that it makes no sense for Canadians to be paying anywhere near what they do in the States for gas since it is OUR oil.

Just more evidence that everyone is being gouged left right and centre at the hands of the oil cartel. Thank goodness I walk everywhere.

You dont understand this.

We don't have refineries!!!!

How do you not understand this. We are being gouged because we send our oil down to be refined.

I say it is an American problem because they have everything they need with oil. We have no refineries. Now we can build them but until then, it is an American problem. They refine the oil, turn it to gas and ship it to us.

There are reasons we do this as well. You must think that everything is so simple. But they probably are not telling some guy from ottawa about what they are trading here and there between the countries.

You do not know anything about this issue.

Hey,

What is the argument here (anony.)?

How hard would it be to build a few refineries? Pious is stating that we have oil here. You are all over the place anonymous!
